1. Policy Statement
Kiltarlity Hall Association is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone who uses the hall. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and protected adults.
2. Legal Framework
This policy is informed by Scottish legislation including the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007, the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007, and guidance issued by OSCR and the Scottish Government.
3. Definitions
A child or young person is anyone under 18 years of age. A protected adult is a person aged 16 or over who is unable to safeguard their wellbeing and is at risk of harm.
4. Responsibilities
The Management Committee has overall responsibility for safeguarding and will ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place.

6. Hall Use
Groups hiring the hall are responsible for safeguarding during their activities and must have appropriate safeguarding arrangements in place.
7. Code of Conduct
All trustees, volunteers and hall representatives must treat others with dignity and respect, maintain boundaries and report concerns promptly.
8. Responding to Concerns
Any safeguarding concerns must be reported immediately to the Safeguarding Lead. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
9. Recording and Confidentiality
Safeguarding records will be kept securely and information shared only on a need-to-know basis.
10. Review
This policy was adopted January 2026 and will be reviewed January 2029.
